How We Warmed Up The Winter Commute With UNIQLO
To drive awareness and product trial for HEATTECH, UNIQLO’s thermal clothing line, we asked the question: How does it feel to #STAYWARM with HEATTECH? To answer, we built a state-of-the-art activation to delight a chilly public by bringing them some HEATTECH warmth.
A giant HEATTECH shirt was displayed in Martin Place, featuring a walk-through tunnel housing powerful greater and a Forward-Looking Infrared (FLIR) camera highlighting people’s hot and cold spots on a screen. Fans could take their own thermal selfie, and on each selfie print-out was a redeemable code for a free HEATTECH gift.
Thousands of fans queued to capture their thermal selfie, and a staggering 93% of these redeemed their free gift. In-store footfall increased, with HEATTECH winter sales rising 20% year-on-year. Customers shared their selfies online, UNIQLO’s social media exposure rose tenfold and publicity coverage was massive.
The activation positioned UNIQLO as the destination for winter warmth and won multiple awards, including a Short Award for Best In Fashion, and a Mumbrella CommsCon Award for Best Use Of Technology.
